The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) has officially released the timetable and schedule of activities for the conduct of the 2026 Local Government Council elections across the 18 local government areas of the state.
Chairman of EDSIEC, Hon. Jonathan Aifuobhokhan, flanked by other members of the Commission, disclosed this during a press briefing held on Monday, July 15, 2025, at the EDSIEC headquarters in Benin City.
According to him, the Commission is acting in line with Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, the Edo State Local Government Electoral Law 2012, and the EDSIEC Establishment (Re-enacted) Amendment Law 2022.
He added that all registered political parties are to collect nomination forms on behalf of their candidates at the EDSIEC Headquarters, located at Plot 116, Oko-Ogba Airport Road, Benin City.
Hon. Aifuobhokhan was joined at the briefing by fellow Commission members including Hon. Asein Ojo Victor, Ighomo Egharevba, Imafidon Hope Osarodion, Umoru Habib Frank, Dr. Suleman Ovuehor Ikhuria, Hon. Anthony Aikpoghome, and Aremiyau Aligamhe Momoh all recently appointed by Governor Monday Okpebholo.
