A tragic incident occurred in Lagos on Tuesday when an officer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) slumped and died. According to eyewitnesses, the officer, who was not in uniform, collapsed in an undisclosed part of Lagos State
A video circulating online shows the lifeless body of the officer surrounded by sympathizers, including police officers who searched his bag and found his EFCC identity card. The spokesperson for the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the officer’s death and stated that an investigation is underway.
The incident is a shock to the EFCC community, especially after a recent attack on an EFCC operative, Aminu Salisu, who was shot by a suspected Yahoo boy during a raid in Anambra State.
The EFCC has promised to ensure justice is served in both cases. The commission’s spokesperson condemned negative narratives surrounding the officer’s killing and assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted.
