Eid-el-Fitr Security Boost: NSCDC Deploys 2,350 Operatives Across Kwara to Safeguard Festivities”

As preparations intensify for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has announced the deployment of over 2,300 personnel across Kwara State to ensure a peaceful and secure festive period.
The Kwara State Command of the NSCDC confirmed that a total of 2,350 officers and men have been strategically mobilized to key locations, including Eid prayer grounds, recreational centers, markets, and other high traffic public spaces. The deployment forms part of a comprehensive security strategy aimed at preventing criminal activities, safeguarding critical infrastructure, and ensuring public order during the celebrations.
According to the State Commandant, the operation involves coordinated patrols, intelligence gathering, and rapid response units positioned across the state’s 16 local government areas. Special attention, officials say, is being given to vulnerable locations and areas with large gatherings, where security risks are typically heightened during major religious festivities.
The NSCDC further emphasized collaboration with other security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilante groups, to strengthen surveillance and response capabilities. Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security authorities promptly.
Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, is one of the most significant religious celebrations in Nigeria, drawing large congregations and increased movement across cities and rural communities. Security agencies across the country traditionally scale up operations during this period to mitigate potential threats.
Recent reports by reputable Nigerian media outlets such as Punch Newspapers, The Guardian Nigeria, and Vanguard News have similarly highlighted heightened security deployments nationwide ahead of Eid-el-Fitr, reflecting a broader effort by authorities to maintain stability and public safety during the festivities.
