Eight people are feared dead after a U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress crashed shortly after takeoff in California on Monday, June 15, 2026.
Edwards Air Force Base said the bomber went down at 11:20 a.m. PDT shortly after departing the airfield on a routine test mission. “Initial indications are that the crash was not survivable,” the base stated on Facebook, adding that emergency crews responded immediately and the situation was ongoing
The B-52 was carrying eight crew members at the time of the crash. No details on the cause have been released yet as investigations continue.
