The Oba of Benin Palace in Benin City, Edo State, says Chief David Edebiri, the Esogban of Benin, Chief David Edebiri, specified how his burial rites were conducted before he joined his ancestors.
This came to the fore when the Eghaevbo N’Ore category of Palace Chiefs led by Chief Sam Igbe, the Iyase (traditional Prime Minister of Benin), who other Benin Chiefs joined, formally announced Chief Edebiri’s demise in a sombre moment at the Palace.
Osaigbovo Iguobaro, Chief Press Secretary to the Oba of Benin said in a statement that the Palace also granted the request by Edebiri’s family to proceed with the burial rites of their Patriarch whose death occurred recently.
