In Ogbomoso, a tragic incident unfolded on Monday as a fire claimed two lives in the late Adebayo Alao-Akala’s former residence.
The Oyo State Fire Service, led by General Manager Akinyinka Akinyemiju, responded to a distress call around 7:57 am. Despite their swift action, one person succumbed to injuries. The house, located in the Randa area, was fully engulfed when the firefighters arrived. The injured individual was rushed to the hospital but, unfortunately, didn’t survive. The late Alao-Akala, a former governor of Oyo State, passed away in 2022 after battling a prolonged illness.
The Oyo State Fire Service’s statement highlighted the challenges they faced in controlling the blaze, emphasizing the severity of the situation. The family’s confirmation of the additional casualty further adds to the somberness of the incident.
