The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Workers’ Day Celebration. In a statement released on Tuesday, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, emphasized the importance of peace in driving industrialization and economic growth.

Tunji-Ojo commended workers for their diligence and sacrifice, noting that their efforts are largely responsible for the greatness of the country and the respect Nigeria commands globally. “There is dignity in labour; the dedication and commitment to the work we do is vital to nation-building,” the minister said.

He assured citizens that the present administration is committed to the security of life and property.

Tunji-Ojo encouraged Nigerians to keep hope alive, stating that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is dedicated to the Renewed Hope Agenda. “While wishing workers a happy celebration, the Honourable Minister urged Nigerians to…keep hope alive,” he added.

The public holiday declaration is a welcome development for workers across the country, who will have a day to celebrate their contributions to the nation’s growth and development.
