Buhari said that the University is very fortunate to have the experienced Diplomat serving as its Chancellor, and he gave his assurance that the Oba would make full use of his vast store of expertise in carrying out his responsibilities.

Congratulating the Oba on the twin honour of being named Chancellor and being awarded a Doctor of Law degree (Honoris Causa by the University, in successive order, Buhari said that he has no doubt that the monarch is worthy of his calling, noting that the 46-year-old University will attain greater heights in the years to come. The Oba was awarded the honours in successive order.

In addition, the individual who was at the university made a promise to address the provision of a perimeter fence within the university and made an appeal to the governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, to mediate the conflict that has arisen between the University and the communities that are located nearby because of land encroachment.

After the citation of the Oba was read, both the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, and the Pro-Chancellor of the institution, Senator Udo Udoma, made separate remarks in which they outlined the prospects, challenges, and breakthroughs that have been recorded by the institution. These remarks came after reading the citation of the Oba.
