Former President Passed away

Nigeria’s former president and military head of state, Muhammadu Buhari, has died at the age of 82 while receiving treatment at a London hospital. His passing was officially announced on Sunday afternoon by his longtime spokesperson, Mallam Garba Shehu, through his verified X handle, @GarShehu.

In a terse but solemn message, Shehu wrote:

“The family of the former president has announced the passing on of Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, this afternoon in a clinic in London. May Allah accept him in Al-Jannah Firdaus. Amin.”

According to sources, the former President passed away around 4:30 p.m. GMT following complications from a prolonged illness for which he had been receiving treatment in the United Kingdom since earlier this year.

Premium Times, Punch Newspapers, Daily Trust, Tribune, and international news agencies, including Reuters and AP News have since confirmed the development, citing Shehu’s announcement and presidency sources.
