Four Arrested for Vandalizing School Transformer in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with the vandalization of a school transformer at Government Girls Secondary School, Bunza, in Bunza Local Government Area of the state. The suspects, identified as Sanusi Muhammad and Ibrahim Lawal from Sokoto State, and Tasi’u Abubakar and Tasi’u Abdullahi from Zamfara State, were apprehended following a swift response by the Divisional Police Officer in Bunza and a team of vigilantes.

The incident occurred on September 20, when the suspects invaded the school premises around 3 a.m., tying up the school’s watchman before dismantling the transformer with chainsaws and other mechanical tools.A black Toyota Corolla with registration number KNT-359-SN, believed to have been used by the suspects, was recovered at the scene, along with the vandalized armored cable wires and tools used in the crime.
Two of the suspects were arrested on the spot, while further discreet investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, led to the arrest of the fleeing gang members.

Commissioner of Police Bello Sani commended the efforts of the team and urged them to sustain the crackdown on electricity vandals and thieves. The police are continuing their investigation to track down more suspects and recover additional property. The suspects are currently in custody and will soon be charged in court for prosecution
