Gas Explosion Wreaks Havoc in Niger State, Properties Worth Millions Destroyed

A devastating gas plant explosion occurred in Niger State on Saturday night, February 9, 2025, destroying properties worth millions of naira.

The incident happened beside Kalasma Filling Station in Sabon Wuse, along the Kaduna Expressway, during a gas transloading operation from a trailer tanker to a surface tank.Gas Explosion Wreaks Havoc in Niger State, Properties Worth Millions Destroyed

The explosion and subsequent fire completely burnt both the trailer and the gas plant, as well as a car parked nearby belonging to Abubakar Yakubu. The fire also spread to the Ngeil Grains Processing Factory, destroying 550 bags of beans and six bags of soya beans.

Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident, according to Abdullahi Baba-Arah, Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA). Emergency responders managed to contain the inferno, but the damage remains extensive.

This incident is the latest in a series of explosions in the state, including a fuel tanker explosion that claimed almost a hundred lives and another incident involving illegal mining explosives storage
