GOV OKPEBHOLO URGED TO FIX EWU- AGBEDE OLD ROAD

An appeal has been made to Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo to rehabilitate the Ewu – Agbede Old Road, Edo Central Senatorial District.

The appeal made by Concerned indigenes in a statement issued to newsmen in Benin City by Mr. Lucky Diagi noted that the Ewu- Agbede Road which ironically is less than five kilometers and borders Edo Central and Edo North in the seventies is the only access road to the Northern part of Nigeria.

” It will interest your Excellency to know that the Agro economy of the old Bendel state was through this same old road and Ewu market used to be a bus stop and off taker for Agro products from Okene in kogi state, Edo North and beyond, while the Benin traders were the off takers to the cities.

“Today, the Ewu Agbede Old Road has been reduced to a foot path. We recall that Edo state was blessed with a Catholic Monastery, one of the best missionary wonder of the world, cited in Ewu”

According to the concerned indigenes, the access road used to be the much talked about Ewu – Agbede Old Road and It is baseless to think about an alternative road through the Benin Auchi express road which has become neglected.

“It is therefore disheartening to note that the Ewu – Agbede Old Road, less than five kilometers was not fixed by past governments, from the administration of Governor Ambrose Ali of blessed memory , Chief Lucky Igbinedion, Prof. Osunbor, Senator Adams Oshiomole, and Godwin Obaseki

“There is no doubt that history will not be kind to these Governors for their neglect to fix this important road.

“Today, Edo state is governed by a pragmatic leader, Governor Monday Okpebholo who will become an idol for Fixing the abandoned Ewu Agbede Old Road,” the concerned indigenes added.
