Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has promised that his administration will continue to work with the Federal Government to develop the State and make it the envy of all.
The Governor said this when he received the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Madein, who was in Government House, Benin City, on a courtesy visit.
Governor Okpebholo said her choice as the Accountant-General of the Federation was the right move. He said the accounting czar has improved the system since she came on board.
Governor Okpebholo thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his interest in Edo State, saying the Heartbeat of the Nation has experienced a lot of developmental strides since President Tinubu adopted Edo as his second home.
According to Governor Okpebholo, working in collaboration with the Federal Government, Edo will become the envy of other States.
He said: “I welcome you to Edo State. I thank the Accountant-General of the Federation for the visit, which has brought back old memories as neighbours.
“She is a ‘due process’ person, and as the Accountant-General of the Federation, she will continue to follow due process. Her work ethic since her announcement as the Accountant-General shows that she is the right person for the job. There is a lot of improvement in the system, and you are doing well.
“I want to thank you for choosing Edo State and thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his interest in the State. Even as an opposition State then, I knew we were part of the All Progressives Congress (APC) family.
“A lot of development has come to Edo State, and we will make it the envy of all and trust God to God to direct our path as a State.”
Earlier, the Accountant-General said she and her team were in the State to assess the Federal Pay Office.
She said: “We are touching on a few of the offices of the Accountant-General that are designated as Federal Pay Offices in the six geopolitical zones, and we are picking one from each zone to visit. Edo State is the one chosen from this zone.
“We are constructing a building to house the Federal Pay Office in Edo State as the office, which is a replica of Treasury House of the Federal Government in the State.
“The Federal Pay Offices perform the role of treasury management to all the Federal institutions in all the States of the Federation.”
