BENIN CITY – Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has condemned the kidnapping incident reported at the Vegetable Market along Airport Road, Benin City, describing the attack as unacceptable and a threat to the safety of residents.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele, the governor directed the Edo State Commissioner of Police to launch an immediate and coordinated investigation aimed at rescuing the victims and apprehending those responsible for the crime.
Governor Okpebholo stressed that his administration would not tolerate any act capable of endangering lives, undermining public safety, or disrupting the peace and security of the state.
He called on residents of Benin City and other parts of Edo State to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities or movements to the nearest police station, noting that timely information would aid ongoing security operations.
The governor reassured citizens of his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property, adding that the government would continue to work closely with security agencies until the perpetrators are arrested and brought to justice.
He reiterated that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.
