Gunmen Abduct Pastor, Two Worshippers from Benue Church as NKST Appeals for Urgent Government Action.

Armed assailants have abducted a pastor and two church members during an attack on an NKST (Nongu u Kristu u i Ser u sha Tar) congregation in Andyar, Benue State, intensifying concerns over the worsening security situation in Nigeria’s North Central region.

The victims were reportedly kidnapped at gunpoint after the attackers stormed the church community, leaving worshippers and residents in fear. The identities of the abducted individuals had not been officially disclosed at the time of reporting.

Following the incident, the church leadership appealed for fervent prayers for the safe return of the victims while urging security agencies and the Benue State Government to intensify efforts to secure their immediate rescue and improve protection for vulnerable communities.

The latest attack adds to a growing pattern of kidnappings and violent assaults targeting religious institutions, rural communities, and travelers across Benue State. The state has continued to grapple with insecurity linked to armed criminal groups, communal violence, and recurring attacks that have displaced thousands of residents in recent years.

Community leaders and security analysts have repeatedly called for stronger intelligence gathering, increased deployment of security personnel, and closer collaboration between federal, state, and local authorities to address the persistent security challenges affecting Benue and neighbouring states.

As of the time of publication, security agencies had yet to announce any arrests or provide official details regarding ongoing rescue operations. Authorities are expected to continue investigations while efforts to locate and safely recover the abducted pastor and church members remain underway.

The incident has renewed calls from religious leaders, civil society organisations, and residents for decisive government action to protect places of worship and restore public confidence in the country’s security architecture.
