Hoodlums Set Anambra Police Station Ablaze in Failed Attempt to Free Inmates

In a shocking incident, unidentified assailants targeted the police divisional headquarters in Nneni, located in the Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers were allegedly attempting to free some inmates held at the facility. However, their plans were foiled by the courageous actions of the police officers on duty, who valiantly repelled the attack.

The spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident. He reassured the public that no lives were lost during the attack and that no police personnel were taken hostage. Instead, the hoodlums resorted to throwing improvised explosive devices (IEDs) into the police facility, causing a fire that engulfed a portion of the building.

Ikenga commended the bravery and resilience of the police officers, whose swift response forced the attackers to flee. He assured the Anambra public that the police are actively engaged in ongoing operations to ensure the safety and security of the area. Any further updates regarding the incident will be promptly communicated.

This incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in their efforts to maintain peace and order in society. It highlights the need for constant vigilance and cooperation between the police and the community to combat criminal activities effectively.

The Anambra Police Command urges citizens to remain calm and vigilant, providing any relevant information that could assist in identifying and apprehending the perpetrators. Law enforcement agencies rely on the support and cooperation of the public to ensure the swift resolution of such incidents.
