Popular Nollywood actress, Ruth Kadiri, has stated that there is no need to fight for Nigerians. The actress stated that Nigerians do not want to be fought for.
The Edo-born actress took to her Instagram page to express her controversial view about how people react when a politician is being dragged on social media.
“How do you fight for people who don’t want to be fought for?” She wrote.
She stated that Nigerians are quick to clout chase anyone defending their cause on social media.
“How do you defend people who will tell you to rest after two posts about you fighting for their cause on social media?”
She stated that Nigerians are more concerned about a celebrity’s marriage that crash than being fought for. According to her Nigerians are quick to clout chase one another once a politician from who they benefit is being trolled on social media.
“The only thing they want to read about is how a celebrity’s marriage ended. and how an actress is sleeping with a married man. Call a politician out and 10 other truthhating, benefit-hungry, clouts chasing celebrities will say #istandwith. Nigerians don’t deserve help. Pls, don’t bother.”
She thereby concluded that Nigerians don’t need help and celebrities should not bother. This has however generated mixed reactions online.
Her colleague in the entertainment industry, Mary Njoku also supported her. Mary Njoku, commented, “Do not help anyone who doesn’t want to be helped. Except your children. Dem no dey force horse drink water. There are many other people who would appreciate it. Focus your energy on those”.
Another colleague, Emeka Rollas, also commented, “For while we were yet sinners Christ died for us! The Jews that crucified Christ didn’t want his help for mankind yet they needed it. That’s the world for you.”
An Instagram user commented saying: “We still have to fight for our children’s future”
