In Imo State, police have successfully dismantled a suspected kidnapping syndicate and apprehended an individual involved in an organ harvesting plot. The operation took place on Douglas Road, where authorities arrested 38-year-old Justine Emmanuel from Ikeduru LGA. A 19-year-old woman, whose identity is being withheld, was rescued during the incident.
The arrest followed a rapid response by police officers on patrol who noticed the syndicate in a blue and white bus forcibly attempting to transport the victim to an undisclosed location, where they allegedly planned to kill her and harvest her organs. During the pursuit, the victim managed to escape from the vehicle and was immediately rescued by the officers.
The police engaged in a high-speed chase, resulting in the abandonment of the bus and the arrest of one suspect, while others fled into nearby bushland. Investigations are ongoing to identify the remaining members of the group and assess the full extent of their criminal operations.
Authorities emphasize that this successful rescue highlights the Imo State Police Command’s dedication to combating violent crime and ensuring the safety of the community. The public is encouraged to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
