In a disheartening turn of events, the newly constructed hospital in Ogurute Uno community, located in Igbo-Eze North Local Council of Enugu State, has fallen victim to rampant vandalism. The extent of the damage inflicted on the facility has prompted the community to take drastic measures by invoking the intervention of a deity to protect the hospital from further harm.In a disheartening turn of events, the newly constructed hospital in Ogurute Uno community,

The hospital, which was completed just a few months ago, was subjected to a series of thefts that resulted in the loss of valuable equipment. Among the items stolen were a brand new ambulance, children’s beds, solar panels, poles, television sets, and other essential supplies that were meant to support the provision of healthcare services in the community.

A viral video circulating in Enugu captured one of the community leaders expressing their frustration and resolve to put an end to the ongoing acts of criminality. In the video, he lamented the audacity of unknown individuals who have been brazenly stealing from the hospital, causing immense hardship for the community.

The community leader stated, “The people here today are people of the Ogurute Uno community. This is Ogurute Ulo General Hospital built for us by the government. The government provided us with equipment to take care of the sick in our villages and equipped this hospital to serve the needs of our people. However, thieves have stolen vital equipment such as air-conditioners, solar batteries, solar panels, an ambulance bus, TV sets, wheelchairs, stretchers, ceiling fans, and even children’s beds.”

The fact that these thefts occurred shortly after the equipment was provided has only intensified the community’s concerns. Determined to put an end to these acts of criminality, the community has collectively decided to entrust the protection of the hospital to the deities revered in the area.

While some may view this step as extreme, the community’s decision stems from a deep sense of suffering caused by the wickedness of individuals. By invoking the deities, the community hopes to deter further acts of vandalism and secure the hospital, ensuring that it can serve its intended purpose of providing healthcare services to those in need.

The incidents of theft and vandalism at the Ogurute Uno General Hospital highlight the need for increased security measures and community vigilance. It is crucial for the government and law enforcement agencies to collaborate with the community to identify and apprehend the culprits responsible for these crimes. Additionally, efforts should be made to implement preventive measures, such as installing surveillance systems and engaging security personnel, to safeguard public infrastructure and promote a safe environment for all.

The people of Ogurute Uno community deserve a functional and secure hospital that can cater to their healthcare needs. It is the collective responsibility of all stakeholders, including the government, law enforcement agencies, and the community, to work together to restore and maintain the integrity of the hospital. Only through such collaboration can the community regain their trust and ensure that healthcare services are accessible to all, without the threat of criminal activities undermining their well-being.
