International Day of Democracy: Executive Chairman of Egor Local Government Council Reaffirms Commitment to Good Governance

‎The Executive Chairman of Egor Local Government Council, Hon. Dr. Kelvin Ighodaro Eguakun, has joined the global community in commemorating the 2025 International Day of Democracy, urging citizens to remain steadfast in defending Nigeria’s democratic values.

‎‎In his goodwill message on Sunday, Dr. Eguakun described democracy as more than a system of governance, noting that it is the “voice of the people and the foundation of peace, progress, and development.”

‎‎He stressed that democracy thrives when citizens actively participate, leaders remain accountable, and fairness, inclusivity, and justice are upheld at all levels of governance.

‎‎“Here in Egor Local Government Council, we have embraced democracy not only as a principle but as a way of life. Through transparency, people-oriented projects, and an open-door policy, we are building a government that reflects the will and aspirations of our people and delivers true dividends of democracy,” he said.

‎‎The council boss urged residents of Egor to protect the nation’s democratic values by engaging responsibly, supporting sustainable development initiatives, and respecting the rule of law.

‎‎He added: “Democracy is strongest when we work together, respect one another, and uphold justice in all we do.”

‎‎Dr. Eguakun congratulated the people of Egor on the occasion and wished them a happy International Day of Democracy
