Oba Ewuare II, Oba of Benin, CFR, has removed Mr Edomwonyi Iduozee Ogiegbaen from his position as Enogie (Duke) of Egbaen Siluko Dukedom in Ovia North East Local Government Area, Edo State.

Ogiegbaen was removed from his position as Chief Coordinator to the Palace on Enigie affairs in January 2023, following a wave of backlash that he had allegedly instigated via rebellion, dereliction of duty, and revolt inside the Enigie’s flock in the Benin Kingdom.

Oba Ewuare II announced the nomination of Capt. Uwadiae Ohonbamumwen (Rted) as the Odionwere in the Dukedom of Egbaen Siluko during a ‘open mediation’ held in his palace in Benin City.

Ohonbamumwen, the former Ozukpogieva (the second-highest ranking elder in the Egbaen Siluko), had already distanced himself from the horrors committed against Ogiegbaen in his speech to the Benin throne.

After the Edomwonyi Ogiegbaen led some dissident Dukes to petition the Edo State government for the constitution of Traditional Councils for Edo South Local government Areas, he said he was saddened to learn that the elders of the Egbaen Siluko had made repeated appeals to the latter but were ignored.

Ohonbamumwen, pleaded with the Oba to finally appoint an administrative head in Egbaen Siluko, something that has been overdue for five years, in order to prevent lawlessness in the region’s administration.

Mr Aimuamwosa Oyemwense Agidi

Mr Aimuamwosa Oyemwense Agidi has been appointed by the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, to the position of Odionwere of the Dukedom of Obazuwa in the Ovia North East Local Government Area of the State, in preparation for the installation of the next Enogie in Obazuwa, which was previously ruled by HRH. Edun Akenzua, who transited in 2022.

After bringing the elders of Obazuwa together in a spirit of peace, Oba Ewuare II anointed Aimuamwosa as the new Odionwere, warning the many criminals stirring up trouble in the Benin Kingdom not to anger the gods of the dead.

There was much rejoicing in Obazuwa when the Oba was proclaimed, and the Odionwere made good on his vow to unify his people and advance the area in line with God’s purpose.

Mr. Sunday Osagie Egharevba, an angry senior in Obazuwa, elder Sunday Emwinokpagharuomwan, and Mr. Odaro Ibizugbe, the Area’s youth leader, all praised the Oba for his insight, wisdom, and quick action.

The customary ceremonies that would precede the formal installation of Edionwere of Egbaen Siluko and Obazuwa have not yet been scheduled.
