Gunmen who abducted Oba Simeon Olaonipekun, the Oniwo of Aafin, his son Olaolu, and several Adanla-Irese residents are demanding a total ransom of N450 million for their release. The development has raised concerns about the worsening security situation in Kwara South.
The kidnappers are demanding N150 million for the monarch and his son, and an additional N300 million for eight Adanla residents abducted in a separate incident. The Coordinator of the Kwara South Joint Community Security Watch Network, Elder Olaitan Oyin-Zubair, confirmed the ransom demands, saying negotiations are underway.
