Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and national leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has welcomed a wave of new entrants into the NNPP from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.
Kwankwaso made the announcement on Friday via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, describing the development as “a momentous occasion” that further solidifies the NNPP’s growing influence in Kano and beyond.
“Yesterday was a momentous occasion, as I received thousands of defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) into the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP),” he wrote.
The event, which took place at his residence in Kano, drew party faithful and political supporters from across the state. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the NNPP governor of Kano State and a close ally of Kwankwaso, was also acknowledged in the message as a symbol of the party’s expanding grassroots appeal.
Kwankwaso assured the new entrants of equal opportunities and fair treatment within the party, promising them a sense of belonging and partnership in the NNPP’s mission to “reshape Nigeria’s political future.”
“I welcomed the new members into our party and I promised them equitable treatment and cooperation. The distinguished leadership style in Kano and our political leadership keep attracting more people into our fold, and I encourage those considering joining to do so without any hesitation,” he added.
