Tijani Babangida who is the president of the National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers has praised the management and Kwara state Government for the quick payment of May salary to players and all the staffs of the Harmony Boys, Obaland Magazine learnt.

Kwara United players, coaching crew and entire staffs got alerts for their salary for the month of May which still remain 9 days to end.

While reacting to the latest development, Tijani Babangida who spent the majority of his playing career at Ajax explained that Kwara United have made him and his association proud by prioritizing the welfare of their players.
“Honestly, I must commend the management of Kwara United for what they have done and kudos must also be given to their financiers which is the government.

“The current Kwara United management has proven many times that they are the best and knows what is expected on how to run a professional team.

“I will also enjoin other professional teams in Nigeria to emulate Kwara United because they have been doing well as far as the welfare of the players is concerned,” the 46-year-old who played 36 games for Nigeria explained.
While responding on behalf of the players, Kwara United captain Akeem Onigbari thanked the management for their wonderful job since they came on board.

“It’s amazing getting our salary on the 21st when our colleagues in other clubs are being owed two to three months salaries.

“On behalf of the players, I want to also thank the State Government for their love and care on all of us and we promise to make them proud when the League resumes,” Onigbari explained.
Meanwhile, the NPFL has been on suspension since coronavirus became more deadly killing people in many parts of the world.

There have also been talks among fans and pundits on the possibility of the League body to cancel the season – although the LMC are yet to make their final decision.
