“Lagos Security Agency Arrests Suspected Burglar in Ikorodu, Recovers Locally Made Firearm”
Security operatives in Lagos State have arrested a suspected burglar identified as Monday Enoch in the Ikorodu area, recovering a locally fabricated firearm during the operation, authorities confirmed.
According to security officials, the suspect was apprehended following coordinated intelligence efforts aimed at curbing rising cases of burglary and related crimes in parts of the state. During the arrest, operatives reportedly recovered a locally made gun believed to have been used or intended for criminal activity.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the arrest forms part of ongoing security operations by Lagos authorities to strengthen community safety and dismantle criminal networks operating within residential neighborhoods. Security agencies in the state have intensified patrols and surveillance in recent months, particularly in rapidly expanding districts such as Ikorodu, which has experienced population growth alongside security challenges.
Authorities say the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing further interrogation. Law enforcement officials also noted that the recovered firearm will be subjected to forensic examination as part of efforts to determine whether it has been linked to other criminal incidents in the area.
Lagos State has continued to prioritize public safety through collaboration between the police and other state backed security outfits. Officials have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies as investigations into the case continue.
Recent reports by several Nigerian media organizations have also highlighted ongoing law enforcement efforts in Lagos to tackle burglary, armed robbery, and illegal firearms possession across the state.
