Lagos Task Force Apprehends 17 Individuals for Street Begging

The Lagos State Environmental Taskforce has detained 17 individuals, including eight minors, for alleged street begging in various parts of the city.

 

According to the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the operation was conducted to enforce law and order across the metropolis. The task force patrolled key routes such as Alfred Rewane, Osborne, Alexandra, Bourdillon in Ikoyi, and the Lekki-Ajah expressway on Victoria Island on Monday.

 

The commissioner revealed that the detained individuals were allegedly engaging in street begging and creating public disturbances. He stated that all suspects would be transferred to appropriate government facilities in compliance with existing regulations.

 

The operation forms part of the state government’s efforts to maintain order and address public nuisances in Lagos.
