The Lagos State Taskforce has apprehended 277 individuals across the state during a week-long operation targeting known criminal hotspots. The operation, led by Taskforce Chairman Adetayo Akerele, focused on areas notorious for illegal activities and makeshift settlements.

The raids, which commenced daily at around 1:30 a.m., spanned critical points on both the Island and Mainland,
Akerele described the operation as part of a larger initiative to recover public spaces taken over by miscreants, pickpockets, and other criminal groups, and to reinforce public order across the metropolis. He emphasized that the taskforce is committed to protecting lives, properties, and public environments across Lagos.
All 277 suspects have been prosecuted in accordance with existing state laws. Akerele warned that anyone intending to destabilize the safety and peace of Lagos neighborhoods would face consequences, reaffirming the taskforce’s mission to deliver a safer, cleaner Lagos.
