The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has rescued two persons, a male and a female, from a lone accident that occurred on a highway in Lagos. The accident, which involved a Venza vehicle with registration number APP 04 HE, was caused by brake failure while the vehicle was in motion at high speed.
According to a statement by the director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, the vehicle veered off the road and collided with a culvert, resulting in two serious casualties. However, due to the swift response of LASTMA officials and the public, the casualties were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
LASTMA’s general manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, has expressed concern for the injured and wished them a speedy recovery. He emphasized the importance of regular vehicle maintenance, particularly ensuring the functionality of braking systems, and urged all motorists to comply with government-prescribed speed limits.
This incident highlights the importance of road safety and the need for motorists to take necessary precautions to avoid accidents. LASTMA’s prompt response and rescue efforts have been commended, and the authority continues to stress the importance of safety on Lagos roads.
