Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Sunday, joined worshippers at St. Paul Catholic Church, Benin City, for a thanksgiving mass marking the second anniversary of the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, which also coincided with Father’s Day.
In his remarks, Governor Okpebholo reflected on the courage and responsibility of fatherhood and drew parallels to leadership. “It takes courage and sympathy to be a father. I urge all fathers to love their children because they are gifts from God,” he said.
He declared his leadership a divine assignment, particularly in the fight against cultism and social vices. “If it were about physical strength, I wouldn’t be the one leading this fight. But God sent me for it,” he added.
Speaker Agbebaku thanked the Governor for attending, pledging the Assembly’s commitment to collaborate with the executive to uplift Edo State. “Your Excellency, we’re ready to work with you to deliver the best for our people,” he assured.
The service also featured award presentations to Governor Okpebholo, Speaker Agbebaku, and other House leaders.
