Engr. Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, has indicated that he will be suspending his campaign activities because of the ongoing problem with petrol and the new naira notes.
On Friday, Governor Seyi Makinde remarked this while speaking at the Flag-off Ceremony for the Omi-Adio-Ido Road. Makinde’s campaign route has taken him to many locations in Oyo State.
The Governor has stated that a suspension is an act of solidarity with the people in response to the anti-people economy policies of the federal government, which is run by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was verified in a statement made by Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, who serves as the Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism.
Makinde, who was in Ido to continue his campaign, commanded that all campaign activities be paused till further notice in the statement. He was there to continue his campaign.
Olatubosun reported that Governor Makinde had claimed that the amount of pain that his people are through is excessive and that he was elected to safeguard the interests and well-being of his constituents.
Dr Olatubosun said that Governor Makinde, who had a voice filled with passion when he inaugurated the Omi Adio-Ido Road, had asked leaders of the Party in Oyo State to cease the campaign.
According to the statement, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has ordered that all campaign activities of the party at all levels be suspended until further notice. “As a mark of honour to citizens and residents of Oyo State,” the statement read, “the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr.
He continued by saying, “This unusual step, at this time, was compelled by Governor Seyi Makinde’s compassion for his people.” We ask each and every one of the state’s inhabitants and citizens to maintain their composure as we make our way through this trying time together.
