It was reliably gathered that the incident happened at Olayiwola Taiwo Area 1 Estate, Alagbado area of Lagos, where they reside.
Authoritative source revealed that, the suspect, Saula, was said to have lured the lady and tricked her into sex. The victim later realized herself and then raised alarm that she was raped by Suala.
The alleged rape was reported to the Police at Alagbado Division and Police operatives then trailed, arrested Suala and then detained him for interrogation over the alleged rape.
He was charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for statutory rape, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty.
When he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the allegation was a capital offence in the interest of justice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubeinje, ordered the defendant to be remanded in custody pending the outcome of DPP’s report and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 27th April, 2022, for the report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
