Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Assaulting Minor in Lagos

A Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court has sentenced Bamidele Folorunsho to 10 years in prison for indecent treatment and sexual assault of a minor. The verdict was delivered by Justice Rahman Oshodi on Wednesday following a plea bargain agreement.

Initially charged with defilement in 2018, Folorunsho faced amended charges of indecent treatment and sexual assault, which included inappropriate contact with the victim. He pleaded guilty to the amended charges during his re-arraignment.

The prosecutor confirmed that the plea bargain, approved by the Director of Public Prosecutions, resulted in a reduced sentence. Justice Oshodi acknowledged the convict’s remorse and compliance with the plea deal, sentencing him to 10 years, effective from March 2018.

Additionally, the court ordered that the convict’s name be registered as a sex offender, in accordance with Lagos State law.
