A Lagos State Magistrate Court in Ebute-Metta has sentenced Jibril Idenyi, a 32-year-old man, to two years and six months in prison for stealing property valued at N9.8 million.
The court found Idenyi guilty of stealing and receiving stolen goods, including three Mikano generators worth N9 million, a Honda motorcycle valued at N500,000, and a 40-inch plasma television worth N300,000. All items belonged to Green Nigeria Limited.
The theft occurred on March 19, 2023, at Agabi Adiesu Street, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. Idenyi was arraigned on March 5, 2024, on four counts, but the court struck out two charges and sentenced him based on the remaining counts.
Magistrate Oluwatosin Erinle sentenced Idenyi to two years for stealing and six months for receiving stolen property, with both terms running concurrently. The sentence dates back to his arrest on August 8, 2023, and he will serve his time at Ikoyi Correctional Centre.
