Police and other security operatives have been sent out to track down a Calabar-born maid who allegedly straggled Mrs. Maria Oredola Igbinedion, mother of the two-time governor of Edo State, Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion in the early hours of Thursday.
An authoritative source revealed that the late mother was believed not to have died a natural death as she was found strangled to death.
Sources revealed that the suspected maid who is now on the run was the only person staying with the late mother.
Also, the running maid became the first suspect due to her sudden disappearance in the morning and the missing of the deceased jewelry, monies, and other personal effects.
It was reliably gathered that the 85 great-grandmothers had been bedridden for some time now over undisclosed ailment following which a maid from Cross River State was hired to be tending to her needs.
However, sources said her children woke up Thursday, December 2, 2021, to their chagrin that their Usen, Egor LGA Edo State-born-aged mum was stone dead at her Ugbo, Benin City resident.
It was learned that the children didn’t immediately know the cause of their mother’s death but discovered later that there were traces of bruises on her neck while the young maid taking care of her had disappeared into thin air adding that her room was turned upside down with monies and pieces of jewelry missing.
The late Maria Oredola reports say, was the first wife to Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin Kingdom, and is survived by many children and grandchildren including Lucky Igbinedion, Bright Igbinedion, Charles Igbinedion, and Mabel Amadi (nee) Igbinedion.
It was revealed that grandma Maria had been confined to a wheelchair since her 80th birthday and had been unable to move around, prompting her children to hire the unnamed maid for her.
However, sources revealed that the Police and other security agencies had been duly briefed and have commenced a manhunt for the fleeing killer maid; stressing that the children had vowed to hunt down the heartless maid and be made to face justice.
