Mechanic Killed and Businessman Abducted in Rivers Community Attack

In a tragic incident in the Army Range area of Igbo-Etche, Rivers State, a mechanic named Okere Samuel was shot dead while a businessman, Sunny Onuenze, was abducted by armed men on Saturday.

Samuel, a father of four and originally from Ofeh community in Omuma Local Government Area, was returning home from work when he went to pump water around 7 PM. His widow, Peace Samuel, recounted that shortly after he stepped out, she heard gunshots. Concerned for her husband’s safety, she attempted to contact him but received no response. As chaos unfolded in the neighborhood, she learned that a neighbor had also been kidnapped.

After waiting for several hours with their children, she grew increasingly worried and decided to search for her husband. Tragically, she found his lifeless body in a nearby farm early the next morning. Samuel’s widow is now pleading for justice and an investigation into his death, emphasizing the difficulty of raising their four young children alone.

Meanwhile, Onuenze’s family has been in contact with the abductors, although it remains unclear whether a ransom has been requested. The incident has been reported to local police, who have removed Samuel’s body and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack.
