In the wake of the impeachment of Philip Shaibu, the State House of Assembly conducted the swearing-in ceremony for Omobayo Marvellous Godwin as the new Deputy Governor of Edo State on Monday. This transition marks a pivotal moment in the state’s political landscape, ushering in a seasoned engineer with a wealth of professional experience and a commitment to public service.

Omobayo Marvellous Godwin brings to the position a distinguished background in engineering, particularly within the oil and gas sector, where he has demonstrated a track record of progressive leadership and expertise. Born on July 19, 1986, Omobayo hails from Akoko Edo Local Government Area of the State, grounding his commitment to serve his community and the wider state.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the esteemed University of Benin (UNIBEN), Omobayo is well-equipped to navigate the complexities of governance and administration. His professional affiliations with the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) underscore his dedication to upholding professional standards and best practices.

As a Senior Maintenance Engineer in Dresser Wayne West Africa Limited, Omobayo has honed his skills in operations, providing exemplary services and contributing to the growth of business in the South South region.
