Mineral exploitation cause of terror in Northern Nigeria

Former campaign director of the Ahmed Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council, Hajia Naja’atu Mohammed, has said the illegal mining of the many mineral resources in Northern Nigeria is responsible for the current terrorism in the region.

She also accused the vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Kashim Shettima, of sponsoring the terrorism that has continued to ravage the North.

Naja’atu Mohammed resigned her appointment with the APC and the Tinubu campaign weeks before the February 25 polls due to irreconcilable differences.

According to her, the recent developments in the political and democratic space had prompted her to leave and made it impossible for her to continue participating in party politics.

Naja’atu, a former APC chieftain, made the remarks during a live interview on Arise Television.

Tinubu’s campaign council countered her resignation claim, saying she was sacked for being a mole in the campaign team.

Justifying her position, Naja’atu revealed that a notorious terrorist, Kabiru Sokoto, was then found and arrested in the home of the former Borno State governor-turned-vice presidential candidate.

Sokoto was among the terrorists that escaped during the Kuje jailbreak in Abuja in 2022, according to reports.
