Another motorist, Kazeem, pointed out that the recurring rainfall and the activities of traders have further worsened the condition of the roads. He urged the government to regulate the activities of the traders and provide palliative measures to alleviate the suffering of motorists.
Tunde Adeniyi, a motorist who uses the bypass opposite and concern that certain sections of the road are already caving in due to the impact of the flood. He emphasized the need for immediate intervention to prevent the situation from deteriorating further.
Abdulahi, a commercial motorist, shared how the poor condition of the road has contributed to the deterioration of his vehicle. He called for urgent intervention, especially during the rainy season when muddy roads pose additional challenges.
A pedestrian, who preferred to remain anonymous, expressed fears that the bad portion of the road could lead to an increase in criminal activities. The pedestrian highlighted the potential vulnerability of motorists who are forced to drive at slower speeds on the damaged road, making them targets for attacks.
Efforts to obtain a response from the Ogun State Commissioner for Works, Ade Akinsanya, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
It is imperative for the Ogun State Government to address the concerns raised by motorists and take immediate action to repair the link roads. By prioritizing the maintenance of these roads, the government can ensure the safety and convenience of motorists, prevent further damage to vehicles, and reduce the risk of criminal activities in the area.
