Fabio Campagnola, the 52-year-old owner of an ice cream parlour in Praia do Francês and partner in a bar in Maceió, in the state of Alagoas, in the north-eastern part of Brazil, but originally from Casale Monferrato (Alessandria), where he lived until ten years ago, was shot dead yesterday, Tuesday 3 January 2023, during an argument in front of the first of his two premises (here the images of the incident, released by the local authorities).
The killer, a retired military police officer who was now a churros peddler, is still wanted while the latter’s wife has been arrested, believed to be an accessory to the murder. The incident was captured by some cameras in the area that leave no doubts about the dynamics. The investigations are conducted by the Marechal Teodoro police. The dispute should have arisen due to the positioning of the killer’s churros cart, which the victim considered abusive and harmful to his business.
Campagnola reinvented himself as an entrepreneur about ten years ago. In Casale, he worked as a labourer and as a clerk. He was also known for his activity as an amateur footballer. He had two children: a 33-year-old adult and a seven-year-old boy. He also leaves several relatives in Monferrato.
