NACA Zonal Coordinator Inaugurates HIV Media Advocacy Group For Edo

The south-south zonal coordinator for National Action Control of AIDS ,Dr.Uduak Daniel has inaugurated  the Edo state chapter of  HIV media advocacy team with a charge on members to help in the dissemination of accurate information on effective management, control and prevention of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
Dr.Uduak in her inauguration address to members in Benin city recently,said that the role of the media in the dissemination of accurate information about HIV/AIDS cannot be overemphasized adding that effective synergy between all SACAs in Nigeria and the media  was required to achieving a low epidemic control.
She  said “the role and responsibilities of NACA and its respective state agencies in achieving low epidemic control of HIV can only be achieved through effective partnership with the media.
“On February 23rd -25th , NACA south/south region held a 3-day training in Asaba ,Delta state where participants including the media were exposed to modern and basic knowledge in  HIV-ST ( HIV-selftesting ) and Pre-prophylasis required in the management, control and prevention of HIV .
“In the dissemination of accurate information on the management and control of HIV , media practitioners need to be acquainted with the right information and its usage in order  for us to achieve our main objective of epidemic control.
“And for media practitioners to do their work ,the policy guidelines or national working document developed from the 3-days training would help to produce a creative document needed to help media practitioners in the task of disseminating accurate information about HIV/AIDS and its prevalence and control”
 Meanwhile, members of the HIV media team were drawn from different chapels of the the Nigerian Union of Journalists in Edo State chapter.
They are  Lamai Cassius, Sharon Ajayi, Idris Momoh, Ken Abu, Peace Agbonghae, Osaose Sadoh, Gloria Iluobe, Mercy Akuba .
Others are  Osaigbovo Iguobaro,Eso Lenient, Erhauyi Joe,Abigail Irhenren,Anita Erhenhi and Kadiri Christopher
