Nigerian Navy for Onitsha Command don hand over 19 bags of suspected Cannabis Sativa give National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for Anambra State, after security people seize di drugs during intelligence-led operation.
Di seizure happen for Atani Community for Ogbaru Local Government Area, Anambra State. According to information wey come out, personnel from di Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB), Amiyi, dey patrol for di area when dem see one vehicle wey dem suspect say e dey carry cannabis.
Di Navy people pursue di vehicle, but di suspect abandon di motor and run comot.
After dat, di security personnel continue with di operation and reportedly discover one warehouse wey dem suspect say people dey use am to keep illegal drugs.
When dem search di warehouse, dem recover 19 bags of suspected Cannabis Sativa.
Commander Kabir Yusuf, wey be di Commanding Officer of Naval Outpost Onitsha, talk say di operation show say Navy personnel dey alert and ready to fight movement of illegal drugs and other criminal activities for di area.
After dem recover di drugs, di Navy officially hand dem over to NDLEA Onitsha Unit so dat di agency fit continue with investigation and take necessary action.
Di Navy also ask NDLEA make dem give update about wetin investigation don find when dem finish di process.
Dis latest seizure na part of di wider effort wey Nigerian security and law enforcement agencies dey make to stop drug trafficking and distribution across di country.
For Anambra, NDLEA don continue to carry out operations against people wey dey involved for illegal drug business. Reports say di agency don arrest hundreds of suspects and recover large quantities of different illegal drugs for di state.
But for dis particular case, di substances recovered dey still described as suspected Cannabis Sativa. Whether dem go charge anybody for court or not go depend on di outcome of NDLEA investigation and other legal processes.
