The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT has handed over three Ghanaian stowaways to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Lagos. The suspects, Armah Peter, 26; Amisah Daniel, 22; and Amoh Michael, 25, were rescued from a merchant vessel, MT ANATOLIA, which was berthed at Dangote Terminal, Lagos.
The stowaways had concealed themselves in the rudder compartment of the vessel, hoping to travel illegally to Europe. They were discovered on March 28, 2026, and subsequently handed over to the NIS for further action.
According to Commodore A. Adams-Aliu, Commander of NNS BEECROFT, the operation highlights the collaboration between security agencies to combat illegal migration and ensure maritime safety. The suspects will be transferred to the Ghanaian Embassy after judicial processes 
The stowaways revealed they were seeking better economic opportunities, with one citing his mother’s hospital bills as a reason for the risky journey. The Navy has warned parents, guardians, and community leaders to caution youths against engaging in such activities, citing the grave risks involved.
