NDLEA Arrests Wheelchair-Bound Drug Dealer, Ex-Convict, and Others

In a series of decisive actions, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have made significant strides in curbing drug-related activities across various states.

In Afuze, the headquarters of Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, a physically challenged drug dealer, 45-year-old Godwin Emuneyin, was apprehended by the NDLEA. Emuneyin, using his wheelchair as a cover, was found dealing in illicit substances like methamphetamine and cannabis. His arrest on Tuesday, November 7, followed credible intelligence. At the time of apprehension, a wooden box containing 18 pinches of methamphetamine, one block, and 71 wraps of cannabis was recovered from him.

Edo State also witnessed other interdiction operations, where NDLEA operatives recovered 42 bags of cannabis weighing 480kgs from a camp in Aviosi forest in Owan West LGA. In the Utese forest in Ovia North East LGA, 231.5kgs of the substance were recovered, and a cannabis farm measuring 0.778960 hectares was destroyed.

Moving to Adamawa State, NDLEA operatives intercepted a Toyota Corolla loaded with 30,899 tramadol pills concealed inside the car’s compartments. The driver, Sani Samaila (a.k.a Isa Male), 25, confessed to bringing the consignment from Jalingo, Taraba State, to deliver in Yola, Adamawa State. Another suspect, Abdullahi Sani (a.k.a Danfulani), was arrested in Ngurore town with dried weeds suspected to be cannabis sativa, leading to the recovery of 19 blocks of compressed cannabis from the home of a drug lord, Alhaji Bubakari (a.k.a Dan Mamuda).

In Ogun State, a joint team of NDLEA operatives, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, Defence Intelligence Agency, and the State Security Network, Amotekun, destroyed 18.875 tonnes of cannabis sativa on a 7.55-hectare farmland. Additionally, 100 jumbo bags weighing 1,100 kilograms of the psychoactive substance were recovered, leading to the arrest of Okpor Chukwuma and six other male suspects.

Further operations unfolded on the Ibadan-Akure Expressway, where a commercial bus driver, Olayinka Sowo, 25, was arrested for the alleged conspiracy to transport 45.150kgs of cannabis from Lagos to Osun State. In Abuja, NDLEA officers intercepted 7,980 pills of diazepam and 567 bottles of codeine syrup in a commercial bus along Abaji-Abuja highway, leading to the arrest of the owner of the consignment, Ugwu Ikenna, aged 30, at the Zuba motor park.

In Delta State, the NDLEA, with the support of the Nigerian Army, raided a remote forest in Umuchime community, Ndokwa West LGA, destroying 12.5 tonnes of cannabis on a five-hectare farmland. During the operation, a suspect named Christopher Anim (alias Ogidi) was arrested. Meanwhile, in Kano, operatives arrested two suspects, Amarachukwu Eugene, 32, and Abdulaziz Auwal, 25, with 202 blocks of cannabis weighing 113.1kgs on Tuesday, November 7. These coordinated efforts reflect the commitment of NDLEA in combating the illicit drug trade across various states.
