On Tuesday, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed that Ibrahim Owodunni, also known as Primeboy, was interrogated at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba. This questioning was prompted by a petition filed by Wunmi, the wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.
Primeboy, along with Ayobami Fisayo, known as Spending, was arrested during their scheduled visit to the SCID. According to sources, Primeboy and Spending had been required to visit the SCID weekly since the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death began.
During Tuesday’s visit, Primeboy was detained while Spending was released. Benjamin Hundeyin, the state Police Public Relations Officer, stated that Primeboy was questioned regarding alleged defamation of character and other accusations mentioned in Wunmi’s petition.
Hundeyin explained that one of the conditions of Primeboy’s bail during Mohbad’s case was to visit the SCID every Tuesday to sign, ensuring he didn’t flee. However, during this visit, Primeboy was questioned about the allegations made by Mohbad’s wife. After questioning, the police allowed Primeboy to leave.
Contrary to reports that Primeboy had been released, a source revealed that he was still at the police facility with his lawyer, Barrister Emmanuel, seeking bail from the Investigating Police Officer (IPO).
Primeboy had previously been declared wanted by the police on October 4, 2023, and surrendered himself two days later. Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, had filed an application in January at the coroner court in Ikorodu, requesting more witnesses to unravel the cause of his son’s death.
Among the witnesses requested were Primeboy, Spending, and Boluwatife Adeyemo, aka Darosha, who were allegedly with Mohbad at the time of his death. Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, passed away on September 12 at the age of 27, sparking controversies surrounding the circumstances of his death.
The Lagos State Police Command established a 13-man special investigation team to probe the death on September 18, 2023, leading to the arrest of Naira Marley and Balogun Eletu, aka Sam Larry, among others.
Mohbad’s body was exhumed for autopsy on September 21, 2023, to determine the cause of death. While the autopsy results are awaited, Joseph Aloba reiterated in November 2023 that nobody should claim his son’s body for burial without his consent.
Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed in December 2023 that the command had not received the autopsy report.
