Every year, people look forward to hearing the prophecies of respected religious leaders, hoping for insight into the country’s future. However, the accuracy of these prophecies has been questionable.
In 2024, Pastor Enoch Adeboye predicted economic hardship followed by recovery, major political changes, and breakthroughs in national security. Apostle Johnson Suleman prophesied that Vice President Kamala Harris would win the US presidential election, but Donald Trump won instead. Prophet Joshua Iginla predicted President Bola Tinubu would face major medical emergencies, but that didn’t happen either.
Despite these unfulfilled prophecies, some pastors have already made predictions for 2025. Pastor Adeboye says 2025 will be a landmark year with divine intervention, while Primate Elijah Ayodele predicts more economic har
dship and a crisis in the Senate.
Some Christian leaders are advising preachers to de-emphasize prophecies, describing them as mere predictions or acts of showmanship. They argue that prophecies have not made a significant impact on the country and have instead made people lazy. Others defend prophecies, saying they provide spiritual guidance and insight. ¹
