Nigerians need AFCON triumph, Sanwo-Olu tells Super Falcons

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged the Super Eagles, Nigeria’s men’s football team, to win the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF African Cup of Nations tournament.

He stated that the victory would bring solace to the citizens, especially in light of the economic challenges they are facing. Sanwo-Olu hosted the team to a special dinner at the Lagos House before their departure for the tournament in Cote d’Ivoire. He emphasized the importance of determination and team spirit in winning competitions and called on the players to be the unifiers of the country.

The governor assured the team that the entire nation, both in Nigeria and in the diaspora, is behind them and encouraged them not to give up, no matter the circumstances. The African Cup of Nations is set to begin on January 13, 2024.
