Northern Youths Accuse Jonathan Of Insecurity In Nigeria

The Northern Youth Leaders Forum, (NLYF), has faulted the persistent insecurity in the country on the former President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

NLYF stated that Nigeria would have been experiencing incessant security challenges if Goodluck Jonathan had perfected the agreement he reached with northern leaders to only serve one term, sequel to the death of his predecessor, Umar Musa Yar’Adua.

“If you flashback to the Jonathan regime, you will observe that Jonathan was ready and willing to deal with the security situation, but some people, especially from the North (undermined him) – we have evidence”, he said in part.

The NLYF stated this through its national chairman, Elliot Afiyo while speaking with journalists in Yola on Saturday. He stated that even though the NLYF, being a coalition of socio-political Northern groups, had been agitating for a rotational presidency but it is now agitating to get a President who can help solve the security situation in Nigeria regardless of region.

Elliot Afiyo stated that Nigeria needs a President who is strong-hearted to deal with insecurity in the country. According to him the insecurity in the country is caused by groups who are benefiting from it

“A coalition or cabal benefitting from the insecurity is causing the insecurity in this country. And you need somebody with a lion’s heart to deal with it. That is why we threw the presidency open. If Jonathan had agreed on that one term, we wouldn’t have been having all these insecurities (challenges) that we are having”, he said.

The NLYF chairman said that with the increase in insecurity Nigeria needs a leader who the passion to de with insecurity in the country.
