In Edo State, National Rescue Movement (NRM) gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Dennis Osahon Aikoriogie, has unveiled a comprehensive strategy aimed at creating a clean and safe environment across the state.
Dr. Aikoriogie outlined the key components of his sanitation and waste management plan, emphasizing the importance of public-private partnerships and international best practices.
“Our administration’s primary goal is to drive a clean and safe environment within Benin City metropolis and other cities and towns in Edo State,” stated Dr. Aikoriogie. “We firmly believe in a private sector-led economy, and will work closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of our initiatives.”
Among the proposed measures is the establishment of waste management courts in various cities and towns to address violations such as indiscriminate waste disposal and misuse of public facilities. Additionally, waste management and sanitation taskforce officers will be deployed to enforce regulations and swiftly address infractions.
Dr. Aikoriogie also pledged to engage with communities through a series of Town Hall meetings, involving a wide cross-section of society including community leaders, market women, teachers, and transport unions. These gatherings aim to garner support and input from various sectors as part of a collaborative effort to enhance waste management practices.
Furthermore, the candidate outlined plans to create incentives for private investors interested in establishing recycling plants, waste-to-energy processing facilities, and waste segregation companies. By leveraging the expertise of the private sector, Dr. Aikoriogie aims to stimulate economic growth and job creation within the waste management industry.
Dr. Dennis Osahon Aikoriogie’s ambitious sanitation and waste management plans represent a significant step towards achieving a cleaner, more sustainable environment in Edo State. Through a combination of innovative policies and community engagement, the NRM candidate seeks to address longstanding challenges and pave the way for a brighter future for all residents.
