In a positive development, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has confirmed that two additional abducted prospective Corps members from Akwa Ibom State, who were kidnapped in Zamfara State while en route to the orientation camp in Sokoto State, have been successfully released.NYSC Announces Liberation of Two Additional Abducted Corps Members

Eddy Megwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations for NYSC, announced this in a statement, indicating progress in the efforts to secure the release of the abducted graduates.

 

Previously reported on December 4, the eight graduates were abducted on August 17 while traveling in an AKTC bus to Sokoto State for their mandatory youth service program. The NYSC management expressed gratitude for the support received from the Nigerian Army in securing the release of a male and female abductee. Efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe release of the remaining four prospective Corps members and the driver who was kidnapped.

 

The Director-General of NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Yush’au Ahmed, reassured the public, especially the parents of the remaining abductees, that the scheme, in collaboration with security agencies, is committed to exploring every available strategy for their safe release. The NYSC reiterated its dedication to fulfilling its mandate under the law, emphasizing the advancement of national unity and integration.

 

The NYSC’s acknowledgment of the support from the Nigerian Army underscores the collaborative efforts to address this unfortunate incident and highlights the commitment to the well-being of the prospective Corps members.
