The First Lady of Edo State, Her Excellency, Betsy Obaseki, has called on Nigerian politicians to change their attitude to politics and seek the good of the people in their constituencies for them to continue to be relevant in Nigeria.

Her Excellency Betsy Obaseki made the call at a ceremony where she handed out appointment letters to 56 persons who were appointed Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to the Governor on Gender at the Festival Hall of the Edo State Government House, in Benin City the Edo State Capital.

The Edo State First Lady noted that there is increased political awareness leading up to the 2023 elections and that politics is no longer as it used to be as demonstrated in the Edo, Anambra and Osun States Governorship elections.

She said “everybody is waking up and what that tells us is that it is no longer business as usual. Things are changing and the people are ready to decide who will rule them. It is only those politicians who are patriotic in their hearts and minds that will make it in this new dispensation.”

She urged the new appointees to take their appointments seriously and do things that will impact their communities positively.

Of the 56 persons appointed, eight are male and 18 are non indigenes.
